The Poplar Place Farm Horse Trials would like to express their condolences to Hilda Donahue on the loss of her eventing partner Extravagance, a 14-year-old Australian Thoroughbred gelding.  Hilda and Extravagance were competing in the CIC*** division at the September Horse Trials and suffered an injury associated with a fall at a fence.  Extravagance was humanely euthanized.Sincerely,Donna and Gary StegmanPoplar Place Farm owners and organizers

Lexington, KY - The athletes of the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) have selected Driver Tucker Johnson and Eventing rider Karen O'Connor as flag bearers for Opening Ceremonies for the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games (WEG).

Area V is hosting the USEA/COTH Central States Adult Team Challenge at Greenwood Farm in Weatherford Texas. The Central States ATC is the same weekend as the WEG Opening Ceremonies – September 25 26 2010, so the central states will be celebrating the 2010 ATC in style as the Area V Adult Riders host the Adult Riders WEG – Weatherford Equestrian Games.

The Marlborough Horse Trials would like to express their condolences to Sarah Berhalter on the loss of her eventing partner Shadowfax on Sunday afternoon.  Sarah and Shadowfax had completed a wonderful Training cross-country round and we are all saddened deeply by this loss.  No cause of death has been determined pending necropsy results.Sincerely,Donna BottnerOrganizerThe Marlborough Horse Trials

The Areté Trophy, sponsored by Colleen and Marc Hofstetter, will once again be presented to the horse and rider in the Advanced Division at the AEC who is closest to optimum time on cross-country. The recipient will receive a $250 prize.The Areté Trophy is dedicated in memory of R.G’s Renegade, a Selle Francais/Thoroughbred gelding who represented the U.S. in many international competitions, including the 2002 World Equestrian Games.

Every year at the USEA Annual Meeting an Awards Luncheon is held. This is an opportunity for the sport to recognize those horses and riders who have excelled in Eventing throughout the year. It is also an opportunity to recognize those very important people who have served the sport tirelessly in a non-riding capacity. While it is a simple matter of tabulating points earned in competition to arrive at the horse and rider awards, it is a very different proposition when it comes to the non-rider awards; these awards require nominations from our members.

Lexington, KY - The United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) is accepting applications for the 2013 Eventing Chef d'Equipe/Technical Advisor.  In order to provide a seamless transition for USA Eventing athletes, USEF has embarked on the search for the next Chef d'Equipe/Technical Advisor for Eventing High Performance.  The position is available January 1, 2013.Interested parties should complete an application, submit their curriculum vitae, and provide their program outline by no later than January 31, 2011.

With a little less than two weeks left before closing date, there are already over 660 entries for this year’s 2010 Land Rover/USEA American Eventing Championships at Chattahoochee Hills. Looks like competitors have been taking advantage of the early bird discount…as well they should! This year marks the 7th year of the AEC, and we’re well on our way for an all-time record number of competitors for this championship event. The USEA will once again be offering a special award at the 2010 Land Rover/USEA American Eventing Championships for Pony Riders. The Mark Phillips Pony Rider Awards will be presented to the highest placed Pony Rider in the Beginner Novice, Novice, and Training divisions at the American Eventing Championships. If you meet the criteria for Pony Riders (listed below) and have qualified your pony for the 2010 Land Rover/USEA AEC then you will be eligible for this new award.  Capt.
