As USEA President Kevin Baumgardner's term winds to a close this weekend, he took the opportunity at the opening of the meeting to address the legacy of the out-going USEA Board members, the success of the past year, and the promising path the Association is on for the future. Baumgardner also mentioned the support of the membership. "Our starters have remained so strong in an economically challenging period. We're within range of historically high numbers," said Baumgardner.

Lexington, KY - The Eventing High Performance Training Lists have been revised for the 2011 season. These riders will be invited to participate in training sessions this winter with Capt. Mark Phillips. The Eventing Selectors and High Performance Committee revised the approach to the training lists with the objective of being successful at the 2012 London Olympic Games. It is anticipated the new structure will allow more focus on the riders themselves, and allow more exposure for some of the talented young horses coming up through the levels.

The 2010 USEA Annual Meeting and Convention is only two days away! Beginning on Wednesday, December 8 over 300 eventers from across the country will join together at The Westin Kierland Resort and Spa in Scottsdale, Arizona for five days of fun, discussion, learning, laughter, and much more.

One of the highlights of this year's USEA Annual Meeting and Convention is sure to be the USEA Town Hall Meeting and Open Forum. This meeting is the perfect opportunity for your voice to be heard, give suggestions on how to make the sport better, and question the leaders of the sport and our organization. Come prepared with your question as the USEA wants to hear from you. The Town Hall Meeting is scheduled for Saturday from 10:00 AM to Noon.

The 2010 USEA Convention and Annual Meeting is going to offer a plethora of meetings, forums, and seminars for eventers of every age and level. One such seminar is Smart Business Practices For Eventing Professional. This seminar will be broken into two parts. The first half will feature Elisabeth McMillan of and the second, equine lawyer, Yvonne Ocrant.

The FEI General Assembly has unanimously accepted the recommendations of the FEI List Group and approved the updated Equine Prohibited Substances List for the 2011 season. National Federation delegates applauded spontaneously at the announcement of the vote. The List was put forward by the FEI List Group following a year of consultation with National Federations and experts, and after the highly successful Congress on the use of Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) in the equine athlete hosted by the FEI in Lausanne, Switzerland in August.
