Over the month long winter break University of South Carolina (USC) at Aiken Eventing Team members dispersed to spend time with family and friends from home.  From South America to New York, riders spent time reconnecting with family and recharging, both mentally and physically.  Our equine partners enjoyed the warm South Carolina weather as they got their own month long vacation just to be horses again.  The break was well-received after ending the last semester on a high note by

Do you have a minute? This seems like an innocent enough question with a most likely positive answer, but it has an entirely different meaning to students of Susie Beale. “Susie loves her work, and to that end, squeezes every second out of each and every minute. In fact, if you ask her, ‘Do you have a minute?’ she’ll often raise her eyebrows with a look that asks, ‘a whole minute?’” described Chris Adair who has been part of Beale’s team since 2006.

Any rider knows that training and competing takes up a huge part of their daily routine, but what happens when college interrupts that? The riders on the Auburn University Eventing Team are here to explain. The club was started in 2013 and was the 6th university to affiliate their Eventing team with the USEA. This year they have 30 active members, 7 of whom were on the USEA 2015 leaderboard. Don’t let their good grades and dressage scores fool you, all this traveling and competing takes a huge amount of time management and teamwork.

By Hannah SladeThe Area IX season is now well underway, and the juniors and young riders are proving to be a force to be reckoned with on the leaderboards. As a young rider myself at 15, it’s pleasing to see my fellow young rider teammates be so successful. It’s astonishing to watch the young riders and their horses lead the divisions from start to finish. From Beginner Novice to Preliminary, the Area IX young riders are frequently at the top of the pack, and more often than not, maintain the lead throughout the jumping phases.
