Christopher Burton, Australia’s latest Eventing star, performed an outstanding Dressage test on Underdiscussion, to sweep into the lead at Les Etoiles de Pau, the first leg of the 2012/2013 HSBC FEI Classics™.After a test that was full of impulsion and expression, Burton was awarded the only 10 of the day, by Ground Jury President Christian Landolt (SUI) for the halt, and heads a strong field with the good score of 34.8.

Rolling thunder and flashing lightening ushered in the second day of competition at the Fair Hill International, with storms of torrential proportions drenching the grounds and turning the rings into mud puddles. The inclement weather stubbornly continued on through the early morning, pushing back the start of competition for an hour. Already soaked competitors were forced back to the barns, and staff and volunteers sought respite underneath the warm, dry tents.

The first day of competition at the Dansko Fair Hill International CCI2*/3* dawned bright, shiny, and full of potential. Predictions for who would emerge from the pack into leading positions were as murky as the morning fog that hung over the grounds in the early hours, and it was anyone’s game as the first competitors donned their shadbellies and took to the dressage arenas. With fall foliage flourishing around the grounds, bright reds, oranges, and yellows were the perfect backdrop for some truly superior dressage tests.

In the first day of competition at the Twin Rivers Fall Horse Trials in Paso Robles, CA, 11 Advanced horse and rider combinations took part in dressage for the final outing of the 2012 Adequan USEA Gold Cup Series.Bea di Grazia and her own Lad’s Night Out impressed judge Marilyn Payne and earned the top spot after day one with a score of 30.7. “Hector was excellent today. He is always such a pleasure to ride and I was thrilled with our test” di Grazia remarked about her stunning 12-year-ol Irish Sport Horse grey gelding.

The U.S. finished the dressage phase outside the medal positions today in Greenwich Park despite two solid rides by Phillip Dutton and Will Coleman to put the team in seventh place on a score of 138.80 going into the cross country phase.  Will Coleman produced a credible performance in his Olympic debut to finish on 46.3 but was clearly somewhat disappointed with Twizzel.

The U.S. team established its intentions today in Greenwich Park by finishing in bronze medal position after the first day’s dressage of the London Olympic Games. Boyd Martin and Otis Barbotiere put the first marks on the score board in front of a large crowd when they got things underway in ideal weather conditions for the horses. Boyd, who was asked to be pathfinder by Team Leader Mark Phillips, is currently tied for 13th place on 50.7 at the halfway stage and is clearly enjoying his Olympic experience, “I’m thrilled to be here.

At the end of the second day of dressage at the 2012 Rolex Kentucky CCI4*, Allison Springer and Arthur sit atop the leaderboard in a competitive field of 57 horses. They executed an accurate, elegant test just before the lunch break for a score of 39.8. While several came close, no one could catch up with this experienced pair throughout the afternoon, and they will leave the start box tomorrow to tackle Derek di Grazia's cross-country course in the lead.

The first half of the 57 horses who moved forward from yesterday’s veterinary inspection performed their dressage tests today under the watchful eye of the ground jury at the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event in Lexington, Kentucky. The third pair of the day, Karen O’Connor and Team Rebecca’s Veronica, set a high standard with a 47.8 – a score that stood nearly all day long until the second to last ride of the day, Boyd Martin, rode Henley House Stables’ Remington XXV to a 45.3.
