Allison Springer and her own Arthur were the first on course during the CIC3* cross-country competition at the Red Hills Horse Trials in Tallahassee, Florida, but their comparatively quick round moved them up from third to first by the end of the day.“You always wonder how things are going to go,” Allison said.  “It’s nice to be able ask other competitors.”  Her plan was to “just go out there and do it,” and Arthur’s scope and big stride made easy work of the course.  Springer and Arthur will have no rails in hand heading into show jumping.

Nearly 200 horses and riders are galloping back to Tallahassee to compete in next weekend’s Red Hills International Horse Trials (RHHT). Once again the starting box will be filled with competitors from ten countries and 25 states as they begin their rigorous journey toward selection for the next Olympic Games, scheduled for the summer of 2012 in London.

For the second year, Red Hills International Horse Trials in Tallahassee, Florida has generously allowed the USEA to host the Equine Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Research Study over the weekend of March 10-13. The preliminary phase of the Cardiovascular Study took place at the Plantation Field Horse Trials in October 2009 and other studies have taken place at Fair Hill International and Rolex Kentucky CCI4* in 2010.

As it gears up for 2011, Red Hills International Horse Trials salutes all who made possible last year’s success following an economy-driven year’s hiatus! On March 11 in Tallahassee, Florida, the Red Hills CIC3* will kick off the 2011 Adequan USEA Gold Cup Season. This year is a big one for the Gold Cup as the year-end prize money is being doubled from last year’s $10,000 to $20,000 for the horse and rider pair with the most points on the Gold Cup leaderboard.
