As it gears up for 2011, Red Hills International Horse Trials salutes all who made possible last year’s success following an economy-driven year’s hiatus! Entries have been pouring in for this prestigious and eagerly-anticipated event scheduled for March 11 -13, at Elinor Klapp-Phipps Park, Miller Landing Road in Tallahassee, Fla. Once again, top riders and horses throughout the country and around the world are expected.

On March 11 in Tallahassee, Florida, the Red Hills CIC3* will kick off the 2011 Adequan USEA Gold Cup Season. This year is a big one for the Gold Cup as the year-end prize money is being doubled from last year’s $10,000 to $20,000 for the horse and rider pair with the most points on the Gold Cup leaderboard.

Close to 40 Preliminary riders enjoyed the scenic Red Hills cross-country course last weekend in Tallahassee, Florida, which offered an updated track from esteemed course designer Hugh Lochore.

Nicki Henley is back and it’s still sinking in for Mara Dean. Together, they led the weekend starting with dressage, increased their lead after touring Hugh Lochore’s new CIC3*W cross-country course without a hitch, and put the cherry on top after completing a challenging show jumping course at the Red Hills International Horse Trials, March 5-7, in Tallahassee, Florida.

No one could top Mara Dean and Nicki Henley’s fast and careful cross-country trip, and they remained the leaders of the Red Hills CIC3*-W heading into tomorrow’s final phase of the competition.

Though the first competitors of the CIC3*-W, the dynamite duo of Phillip Dutton and Tru Luck (owned by  Annie Jones & Becky Broussard), threw down the gauntlet with a commendable 45.6, their lead was quickly overruled by Mara Dean and her own Nicki Henley who posted a stellar 42.6.

The Red Hills International Horse Trials made its triumphant return today in Tallahassee, Florida, as one of the nation's elite events. In addition to hosting CIC3* (as part of the Adequan USEA Gold Cup series), CIC2*, CIC1*, Advanced, Intermediate, and Preliminary divisions, Red Hills offers one of only two HSBC FEI World Cup™ divisions in the country (as does the Montana-based Rebecca Farm).

The HSBC FEI World Cup™ Eventing, which kicks off at Tallahassee in Florida (USA) this weekend (5-7 March), is to adopt an improved and exciting new format for 2010. The series will be run in similar fashion to the prestigious Meydan FEI Nations Cup™ in Jumping, where points gained at each event count towards a lucrative prize pot, in this case awarded to the top 15 riders in the HSBC FEI World Cup™ Eventing standings.
