A delegation of four international grooms representing the three Olympic disciplines were welcomed to FEI Headquarters in Lausanne (SUI) by FEI President Ingmar De Vos this week to participate in the inaugural Grooms Working Group meeting.The first meeting of its kind, the working group was created following a recent survey among National Federations to determine the best way to improve communications and interaction with grooms and what the FEI can do to help them.

The FEI President has welcomed today’s confirmation by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) that equestrian sport will be in the Olympic program for the 2024 Games and approval of the Olympic formats submitted by the FEI for the Tokyo 2020 Games. The quota for equestrian at the 2020 Games remains unchanged.

Two cities have been announced as official candidates to host the FEI World Equestrian Games™ 2022. Lexington, Kentucky (USA) and Samorin (SVK) have both been selected as potential hosts for the FEI flagship in six years’ time.“We are very happy to have two such strong official candidates for the FEI World Equestrian Games in 2022”, FEI President Ingmar De Vos said. “Both the Kentucky and Samorin venues have the infrastructure in place already to host the Games, which is one of the biggest events on the global sporting calendar.

Olympic Press Committee member Alan Abrahamson gave a reality check to a record number of delegates at the FEI Sports Forum as almost 320 participants debated the future shape of equestrian sport in Lausanne (SUI) today. “What you’re facing is nothing less than a reality check for the sport”, the former Los Angeles Times and NBCOlympics.com correspondent said.
