Buck Davidson and Ann Clements’ promising 7-year-old, Quasar, made easy work of Captain Mark Phillips’ Intermediate championship cross-country course today at the 2014 Nutrena USEA American Eventing Championships, presented by VTO Saddlery. They maintained their overnight lead (30.4) after dressage atop the field of 32 competitors, and are followed in placing by Elisa Wallace and Rosemarie Spillane’s Corteo (31.7).

Competition officially began bright and early this morning, with the first horse in the ring at 8:30. The Preliminary Horse and Training Horse competitors have completed dressage, leaving native Texan Heather Morris leading the Preliminary Horse on Charlie Tango, a six-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding (Shannondale Sarco St. Ghyvan – Our Queen Bee) owned by the Team Express Group.

Over 400 horses and riders have arrived in Tyler, Texas from as far afield as New Hampshire and Washington State to compete for $250,000 in cash and prizes, and earn prestigious national championship titles today through Sunday.Tyler, TX - The 2014 Nutrena USEA American Eventing Championships, presented by VTO Saddlery, begin today. The competition includes the $40,000 Adequan USEA Gold Cup Final and the USEA Adult Team Championship.
