As we move into a new Eventing year, we also move into a new era. Jo Whitehouse stepped down as Chief Executive Officer after 17 years at the helm. She leaves an organization with a strong appreciation of its past and the tools to address the challenges of the future. She also leaves us in very good hands.

The United States Eventing Association is pleased to announce the new Board of Governors and Executive Committee members who were elected at our Annual Meeting of Members on Saturday. We would also like to note new Board member Carol Kozlowski is our President Elect and will assume the role as USEA President in December 2016. From Toronto to RioDavid O’Connor began this afternoon meeting by inviting the key players from the Pan American Games to reflect on their experiences and successes. This included USEF Managing Director of Eventing Joanie Morris, Team Veterinarian Dr. Susan Johns, and the gold medal team of Lauren Kieffer, Marilyn Little, Boyd Martin and Phillip Dutton. After introductions, Morris recognized the owners of the horses, grooms for the teams and the traveling reserve, Jennie Brannigan, for all of their support.

USEA Board of Governors MeetingThe agenda for the first USEA Board of Governors Meeting was packed as usual covering a variety of Association business. Diane Pitts, USEA President, started the meeting with her year-end review. Pitts reported that the USEA had a great 2015 with highlights including: no debt, the USEA Endowment is now the USEA Foundation, the YEH/FEH Champs had the highest quality horses ever, the equine medical research program was a huge success and the start of the course designers grant.

United States Eventing Association (USEA) members were rewarded for their hard work this year during the 2015 Awards Luncheon. MC’d by the legendary Jimmy Wofford, the year-end awards presentation is one of the most anticipated events of the USEA Annual Meeting and Convention as Eventers cheer on themselves and their friends for all of their accomplishments throughout the year.

Eventing High Performance RidersDavid O’Connor recapped the year of the U.S. Eventing high performance program with several statistics. Overall he thought is was a “year that started a shift. Are we there yet? No, but the ship is starting to turn,” said O’Connor.”

Today the United States Eventing Association (USEA) released the 2015 statistics on its membership and competition starters.  Release of this information was deemed appropriate with the upcoming USEA Annual Meeting and Convention scheduled to occur on December 2-6 at the Omni Shoreham in Washington, D.C.
