The USEA is very sad to hear of the passing of Hall of Fame member, Karen Stives, who lost her long battle with lung cancer today at the age of 64.

Sonnad, Seema Subash, 52, died on May 27, 2015, in Renton, Wash. Seema suffered a cardiac arrhythmia while running an ultra-marathon, and passed away at Valley Medical Center with her husband, brother and sister-in-law at her side.Seema will be greatly missed by many. With seemingly boundless energy, she was passionate about sharing her knowledge, interests and experience with everyone around her. Seema was devoted to her career, horses and running, but shared her love of fine wine and ballroom dancing with her beloved husband and soul mate, Henry.

John “Jack” Leary, 60, of Lovettsville, Virginia, died Saturday, April 25, 2015, in Burlington, Connecticut. Jack was born October 23, 1954 in New York, N.Y., son of the late Daniel A. Leary and Elisabeth (Mullen) Leary; he grew up in Connecticut and spent much of his adult life in Litchfield. He received a BA in Political Science from Georgetown University, Washington DC, in 1976. Jack began his career in 1976 with Motorlease Corporation, his family’s fleet management company in Farmington, CT.

Wanda Webb, a dedicated rider and instructor on the western Eventing circuit for over 30 years, died March 27, 2015, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Wanda competed through the one-star level and is best known for competing her horse Country Swing at the Preliminary level throughout the West.

The USEA and the staff at the Red Hills Horse Trials are deeply saddened by the accident that took the life of Conahy’s Courage owned by Imogen de Lavis and ridden by Canada’s Kyle Carter. The entire Eventing community sends deepest condolences to Imogen and Kyle on the loss of this lovely horse.

Richard Meade (GBR) OBE, triple Olympic gold Eventing champion, former member of the FEI Bureau, FEI Eventing Committee and Chairman of Group II (Northern Europe), has passed away after a battle with cancer. He was 76 years old.He became the first British athlete to win individual Eventing gold at the Munich 1972 Olympic Games, after making his Olympic début in Tokyo eight years earlier.

The USEA is sad to hear of the passing of Bruce Duchossois. Bruce was a highly valued and loved member of the equestrian community as a rider, owner, and supporter of horse sports and eventing. Recently, his horse Mighty Nice placed seventh at Luhmuhlen in Germany with Phillip Dutton in the irons.Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.
