Sadly, Jennifer Simmons’ horse J.B.’s Star was euthanized on October 16 after sustaining a fracture to his right humerus after a fall at Fence 17 on the cross-country course at the Fair Hill CCI3*. Both Simmons and “JB” were attended to immediately by the medical staff, and the horse was transported to New Bolton Medical Center in Kennett Square, PA.Simmons was transported to the Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE to undergo testing, but was later released today.

Walter G. Staley, Jr., 77, of Mexico, Missouri, died on October 10, 2010, at Audrain Medical Center.

The Poplar Place Farm Horse Trials would like to express their condolences to Hilda Donahue on the loss of her eventing partner Extravagance, a 14-year-old Australian Thoroughbred gelding. Hilda and Extravagance were competing in the CIC*** division at the September Horse Trials and suffered an injury associated with a fall at a fence. It is with the deepest regret that the FEI announces that Sebastian Steiner, 22, suffered a fatal accident while competing at Montelibretti International Horse Trials in Italy at 15.25pm on September 18, 2010.Sebastian, who was representing Austria, was riding Cartago, a 15-year-old gelding, when they fell at fence number 11. The horse was not injured in the incident.Mrs Christina Klingspor (SWE), President of the Ground Jury, said: “On behalf of the whole sport, I would like to extend our deepest sympathy to Sebastian’s family.”

The Marlborough Horse Trials would like to express their condolences to Sarah Berhalter on the loss of her eventing partner Shadowfax on Sunday afternoon. Sarah and Shadowfax had completed a wonderful Training cross-country round and we are all saddened deeply by this loss. John Chapman “Chips” Chester, 80, died peacefully at home on July 9, having been diagnosed with brain cancer.

It is with deepest regret that we announce that "Chauncy," horse number 63 ridden by Suzy Elliott, collapsed while competing in the Advanced division at The Event at Rebecca Farm, Kalispell, MT, USA on Saturday, July 24, 2010. Suzy Elliott is from Yelm, WA.Elliott was riding Chauncy, an 8-year-old Thoroughbred gelding owned by her husband, Jonathan Elliott.
