Leaderboard Point System

Points awarded for the T3D Event will be the same value earned at the CCI1* level. Points awarded for the N3D and BN3D Eventing Tests will be the same value earned at the CIC1* level, with the addition of clean completion points (no cross-country jump penalties). Refer to the grade chart below.

Award points are granted based on the tables below, and apply only for the current competition year. Horses must be registered with the USEA at the Limited or Full level and riders must be actively registered at a USEA competition-eligible level (Life, Full, Junior or Family), on or before an event's starting date, in order for either to receive Award points. 

Beginner Novice, Novice, and Training Levels

Leaderboard Qualifications

Beginner Novice

• Beginner Novice Rider: Only points accumulated prior to completing more than two competitions at the novice level or above during the current competition year will count toward year-end awards. Horse any grade. Points accumulated on more than one horse.
• Beginner Novice Adult Amateur Rider: 22-39 (with USEA amateur affidavit or USEF amateur card).
• Beginner Novice Master Amateur Rider: 40+ (with USEA amateur affidavit or USEF amateur card).
• Beginner Novice Junior Rider: (18 and younger).
• Beginner Novice Young Adult Rider: (19-21).
• Beginner Novice Adult Rider: (22-39).
• Beginner Novice Master Rider: (40+).
• Beginner Novice Horse: Any rider. Only points accumulated prior to completing more than two competitions at the novice level or above during the current competition year will count toward year-end awards. 

Novice

• Novice Rider: Only points accumulated prior to completing more than two competitions at the training level or above during the current competition year will count toward year-end awards. Horse any grade. Points accumulated on more than one horse.
• Novice Horse: Any rider. Horse may not have completed more than twice at the training level or above during the current competition year.
• Novice Adult Amateur Rider: 22-39 (with USEA amateur affidavit or USEF amateur card.)
• Novice Adult Amateur Master Rider: 40+ (USEA amateur affidavit or USEF amateur card.)
• Novice Junior Rider: (18 and younger)
• Novice Young Adult Rider: (19-21).
• Novice Adult Rider: (22-39)
• Master Novice Rider: (40+)

Training

• Training Rider: Only points accumulated prior to completing more than two competitions at the preliminary level or above during the current competition year will count toward year-end awards. Horse any grade. Points accumulated on more than one horse.
• Training Horse: Any rider. Horse may not have completed more than twice at the preliminary level or above during the current competition year.
• Training Adult Amateur Rider: 22-39 (USEA amateur affidavit or USEF amateur card.)
• Training Adult Amateur Master: 40+ (USEA amateur affidavit or USEF amateur card.)
• Training Junior Rider: (18 and younger)
• Training Young Adult Rider: (19-21)
• Training Adult Rider: (22-39)
• Training Master Rider: (40+)
• Training Horse: Any rider. Only points accumulated prior to completing more than two competitions at the preliminary level or above during the current competition year will count toward year-end awards.

Preliminary, Intermediate and Advanced Level Grade Point System

The Grade Points tables below apply, for grading purposes, to horses placing in competitions in the U.S. These points also apply to competitions outside the U.S. recognized by the FEI or the national federation of the country in which the competition is held. It is the responsibility of the rider who competes in an event outside the U.S. to send full details of such competition and placings to the USEA.

Grade points accumulate during the competition lifetime of each competitor. Horses must be registered with the USEA at the Full level and riders must be actively registered at a USEA competition-eligible level (Life, Full, Junior or Family), on or before an event's starting date, for either to receive Grade points.

The number of placings which receive points shall be based upon the total number of starters in the division. For every additional 4 starters above 39, one more level of placings shall be awarded points equal to 10th place points.

Where there are less than 10 starters in a division of a horse trial/CIC, CCI or National Three-day Events, the points will be awarded at the next lower level. In the case of this occurring in a preliminary division, the points will be halved ((including N3D/BN3D Eventing Tests).

A horse trial offering a steeplechase phase is awarded horse trial points.

A horse trial offering a dressage test and show jumping test at the higher level, the points will be awarded based on the level of cross country.

Clean cross-country completion points (No jump penalties) are awarded at the National Three-day Events, including N3D and BN3D Eventing Tests and CCI Levels, regardless of placing within the division.

Preliminary Level

• Preliminary Horse: Any grade. Horse may not have completed more than two competitions at the intermediate level or higher during the current competition year.

Intermediate Level
