SmartPak Equine USEA Classic Series

The thrill of the “chase” lives on for those who still want to experience the unforgettable rush of the classic format three-day event! Long-format classic format events from the Preliminary to Beginner Novice levels are available in the SmartPak Equine USEA Classic Series and include Roads and Tracks, Steeplechase, and Cross-Country on Endurance Day. In addition educational activities are offered at the Classic Series Events.

Qualifications

Preliminary Three-Day Event (P3D):  Open to competitors beginning the calendar year of their 14th birthday, on horses five years of age or older.  Both the competitor and the horse, though not necessarily as a combination, must have obtained an NQR at four horse trials at the Preliminary Level or higher. 

Training Three-Day Event (T3D):  Open to competitors of any age, on horses four years of age or older. Both the competitor and the horse must have obtained NQR’s at four horse trials at the Training Level or higher, one of which must be attained as a combination. A competitor established at the Preliminary level may compete on a horse which has obtained 2 NQR’s at the Training Level or higher.

Novice Three-Day Event (N3D):  Open to competitors of any age, on horses four years of age or older. The rider must complete with a numerical final score four Novice Horse Trials or higer. 

Beginner Novice Three-Day Event (BN3D):  Open to competitors of any age, on horses four years of age or older. The rider must complete with a numerical final score four Beginner Novice Horse Trials or higer. Horse and rider both must be USEA members. 

Prizes

This year the SmartPak Equine USEA Classic Event winners have the opportunity to compete for a variety of prizes including: SmartPak Halters and Lead Shanks, SmartPak Bridles, Fleeceworks Saddle Pads, Stackhouse Saddles and much more!

Inavale Farm came alive this past weekend with its annual SmartPak Equine USEA Training Three-Day. Philomath, Oregon buzzed with action as riders and horses from 24 different divisions rolled into Inavale Farm to compete.

Nearly a decade ago Dieke Dresch rode in her first and only classic format event and it was not a successful weekend as she was bucked off on Roads and Tracks and her horse was uncontrollable in the vet box, however, this past weekend Dieke got her chance for redemption at the Indiana Eventing Association’s SmartPak USEA Training Three-Day Event. The 25-year-old rode her own Razor’s Edge, a nine-year-old Thoroughbred gelding (No Actor x Confrence Champ) to the win – finishing on a 41.6.

The second annual So8ths/Nikon Three-Day Event in the Heart of the Carolinas took place May 3-6 at Southern 8ths Farm in Chesterfield, SC.  Riders, grooms, officials, spectators and guests were clearly impressed by the facilities, the show grounds, the social functions and the quality of clinicians who came to educate participants about the finer points of Long Format competition.

In addition SmartPak Equine is continuing their support of Eventing USA, the USEA’s award winning magazine, by sponsoring both the Horse Health and Jan Byyny Photo Critique columns.

On February 1, 2012, the US Eventing Association approved a policy change to permit Beginner Novice and Novice riders to compete in recognized Classic Format Three-Day Event Tests.  This historic ruling now allows those riders that represent the majority of the sport’s participants to earn USEA National Year-end Points and Eventing Championship Qualifications when they compete in the Classic version of the sport.
