Red Hills Horse Trials, scheduled for March 5-7, is excited to welcome a field of over 140 competitors to Tallahassee for the East Coast World Cup Qualifier and the first in the Adequan USEA Gold Cup Series. After a hiatus in 2009, Red Hills is expecting more than 25,000 spectators to view the Trials at the Elinor Klapp-Phipps Park and enjoy the many activities and exhibitions offered.
Red Hills was chosen to host the USEA Equine Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Research Study. The study will be performed using horses in the Advanced divisions. The ultimate goal is to assess the cardiopulmonary effects on the horses and to identify factors that may influence their performance or safety issues.
In addition to the Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Study, Red Hills will also host the first candidates of the new Global Education Programme for Eventing Officials. Created and funded by the Federation Equéstré Internationale, (FEI), the project’s mission is to improve and align safety standards and support the sports’s officials in their work worldwide. This education initiative will play a major role in expanding and raising the quality and experience of Eventing officials worldwide.
