It is with deep sadness that we announce that Jaeda, a 13-year-old Thoroughbred mare (Persian Star x Sweet Jennifer) ridden by Booli Selmayr and owned by Kelly Morgan, died between obstacles 13AB and 14 while competing on cross-country in the CCI3* at Bromont, Canada at midday on Saturday June 10, 2017. The rider was unhurt.

The following statement has been provided by Anne Basket, FEI Veterinary Delegate. "The post mortem diagnosis of an acute diaphragmatic hernia was made by the Faculté de médecine vétérinaire St-Hyacinthe. An injury of this type could not have been foreseen and is very uncommon in equestrian sport."

The USEA sends our deepest condolences to all of Jaeda's connections.
