Only 83 days left until the event we’ve all been waiting for-the Nutrena USEA American Eventing Championships Presented By Bit of Britain.  From September 6-9, Chattahoochee Hills in Fairburn, Georgia will be crowded with horses and riders from all over the country ready to compete.

2012 marks the last of the three year period in which eventers travel to Chattahoochee Hills for the AEC.  Starting in 2013, the AEC will be held in Texas Rose Horse Park in Tyler, Texas.  That means that this is the last year for east coasters to compete in their back yard.  Though this is the last time that Chattahoochee Hills will host the AEC, it is the first time for competitors to experience the event under the direction of brand new staff.  J.J. Johnson will be the organizer for this year’s AEC and Hugh Lochore will take over as cross-country course designer.

Like in previous years, the AEC will have 14 divisions including Advanced, Intermediate, Preliminary Horse, Preliminary Amateur, Junior/Young Rider Preliminary, Training Horse, Training Amateur, Junior Training, Novice Horse, Novice Amateur, Junior Novice, Beginner Novice Horse, Beginner Novice Amateur, and Junior Beginner Novice.  Riders in each of these divisions will enjoy the beautiful cross-country courses, luxurious stabling, and the 8,000 acres of well-manicured farmland.   The event is ideal for spectating with parties, great viewing areas, and loads of vendors.

As always, the AEC will offer a multitude of prizes for the highest placed competitors in each division.  Riders will compete for items such as Wise Equestrian Saddles and Products, Charles Owen helmets, Chronicle of the Horse Subscriptions, FITS breeches, Fleeceworks Saddle pad sets, Omega Alpha products, Point Two Air Vests, SmartPak Wellfleet halters and engraved leather lead shanks, SSG gloves, Amerigo Saddles, Mattes Pads, Vespucci bridles, and Equilibrium Airlite boots, and much more.  A number of gift certificates for equestrian favorites including Adequan, Nutrena Feed, VTO Saddlery, and Saratoga Horseworks will be awarded to talented riders as well.  Most enticing of all, a cash prize of $70,000 will be divided between each of the division winners.

With less than three months before show time, be sure to check up on your results and make sure you are qualified if you plan to enter the AEC.  The Opening date for the event is July 24, and the Closing date is August 21.  To find out if you are qualified, check the list of Qualified Riders and list of Qualified Horses.  To find out how to qualify, go to AEC Qualifications or AEC Qualifications – Summary

The 2012 Nutrena USEA American Eventing Championships would not be possible without our wonderful sponsors: Nutrena, Bit of Britain, Merial, Charles Owen, Broadstone, SSG, Wise Equestrian, Fleeceworks, World Equestrian Brands, VTO Saddlery, FITS, Auburn Labs, The Chronicle of the Horse, Omega Alpha, Stackhouse Saddles, FLAIR, Saratoga Horseworks, SmartPak, and Adequan
