In the first day of competition at the Twin Rivers Fall Horse Trials in Paso Robles, CA, 11 Advanced horse and rider combinations took part in dressage for the final outing of the 2012 Adequan USEA Gold Cup Series.

Bea di Grazia and her own Lad’s Night Out impressed judge Marilyn Payne and earned the top spot after day one with a score of 30.7. “Hector was excellent today. He is always such a pleasure to ride and I was thrilled with our test” di Grazia remarked about her stunning 12-year-ol Irish Sport Horse grey gelding.

Bea and Lad’s Night Out who won the CCI2* division at Twin Rivers earlier this year will look to have another successful outing, as they embark on Derek di Grazia’s cross country course tomorrow.

Although the 2012 Adequan USEA Gold Cup series champion has already been decided following Becky Holder and Courageous Comet’s AEC victory, James Alliston who sits in second place behind di Grazia aboard Tivoli looks to earn his share of this weekend’s comprehensive list of cash and prizes. Not far down the Gold Cup Leaderboard, and with the title and rewards associated with Reserve Gold Cup Champion still up for grabs, Alliston hopes a successful weekend will result in just enough points to climb his way up the leader board.

Riders and spectators alike were impressed upon arrival this weekend to see a number of changes and improvements made to the already well-established Twin Rivers Ranch facility.  The ranch, owned and operated by the Baxter family, recently added a remodeled trade fair area, additional permanent stabling and various upgrades with more to come in the near future. “We are proud to be hosting the Adequan USEA Gold Cup Series again this year at Twin Rivers and appreciate the support of all of our volunteers, riders, spectators and everyone who makes our show possible,” said show organizer Connie Baxter.
