It may still be early in the season in most of the country, but it is never too early to start thinking about your path to qualification for the 2024 USEA American Eventing Championships (AEC) presented by Nutrena Feeds! This year, the AEC will return to the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky, on Aug. 27 through Sept. 1 for another exciting week of championship-level competition for every level of the sport of eventing. With the addition of Starter to the list of USEA-recognized levels, the AEC is going to be even more jam-packed with thrilling competition!

The United States Eventing Association, Inc. (USEA) is thrilled to share that Erin Gilmore Photography will be returning to the 2024 USEA American Eventing Championships (AEC) presented by Nutrena Feeds as the Official Photographers of this year's event. The 2024 American Eventing Championships take place Aug. 27-Sept. 1, 2024 at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky.

Contract Negotiations Underway for Host Sites of 2025-2028 USEA American Eventing Championships

The United States Eventing Association (USEA) Board of Governors has voted to enter into contract negotiations with Galway Downs Equestrian to host the 2025 USEA American Eventing Championships (AEC) at Galway Downs in Temecula, California, with an option for another one-year term in 2029. The Board also approved the entering of contract negotiations with Equestrian Events Inc. (EEI) and Kentucky Classique to host the AEC at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky, for the years 2026, 2027, and 2028.

Open and Junior Starter Divisions to be offered at 2024 USEA AEC

The United States Eventing Association, Inc. (USEA) and its organizing partners at Equestrian Events, Inc. (EEI) and Mary Fike are thrilled to announce the addition of the Starter level to the USEA American Eventing Championships (AEC) presented by Nutrena Feeds in Lexington, Kentucky, from Aug. 27–Sept. 1, 2024! In its first year as a recognized level, Starter will be offered in two Championship divisions for interested competitors: Open and Junior.

Call for Official Photographer and Videographer/Live Stream Service Providers at the 2024 USEA AEC

Request for Expression of Interest: AEC 2025-2028

Addie Borton's AEC Adventure with Conway Lad

Preparing the Fast Facts for the USEA American Eventing Championships (AEC) presented by Nutrena Feeds always displays the true diversity of the sport of eventing. Riders from all backgrounds and ages riding horses that were wrangled up in the Wild West or born into the arms of the riders who still have them to this day come together to compete in the sport they love. One fun fact the USEA staff always enjoys looking at is the age range between competitors. This year the oldest competitor was 75 years young and the lone youngest competitor was 9 years of age. That young rider is Addison Borton.

Volunteerism Brings Eventing Lovers Together at the 2023 AEC

With 850 competitors on the roster, putting on this year’s USEA American Eventing Championships (AEC) presented by Nutrena Feeds was no easy task. And like all other horse trials in the U.S., the AEC still relies heavily on the efforts of volunteers to bring its efforts to fruition. Over 750 volunteer shifts were filled over the course of the 7-day-long competition by an outstanding 300-plus volunteers. Those volunteers hailed from all over the country, with 30% of the final volunteer number driving in from out of state. Eventing enthusiasts flew in from each coast to help make this event a special one for the qualified competitors this year. While on grounds, the USEA caught up with a handful of these spectacular individuals to get the down low on why they opted to volunteer at this year’s national championships.

The Amato Family Shares A Special Week at the AEC

While they’d both been to the USEA American Eventing Championships presented by Nutrena Feeds in the past, Andy Amato and his wife Tonya Cummins Amato hoped to one day share the special experience with their 12-year-old daughter Addison Amato. With all horses and humans healthy and with the AEC being held in Lexington, Kentucky, 2023 was their year.
