In an effort to make qualifications for the USEA American Eventing Championships (AEC) easier to understand and bring the USEA up to standard with the USEF Rules for Eventing qualification requirements, the qualifications for the AEC have been updated for 2019.

When first-time horse buyer Claudia Channing purchased Chestnut Oak’s Drummer Boy (Clononeer Romantic Traveler x Steege’s Beth) as an unbroken 3-year-old American-bred Gypsy Vanner/Shire cross gelding, it might have seemed like an unorthodox choice for a new rider. Affectionately knowns as “Romeo” around the barn, he has proven that he can be competitive at the lower levels of eventing. “[It was] quite the leap into horse ownership, but his quiet nature and willing attitude made for the perfect match,” reflected Taylor Lindsten, Romeo and Channing’s current trainer.

2018 saw the USEA American Eventing Championships (AEC) presented by Nutrena® Feeds take place for the first time at The Colorado Horse Park in Parker, Colorado. Riders from all over the country traveled to compete amongst the Rocky Mountains for national championships titles across 18 divisions. When all was said and done there were 18 new National Champions, and now we want to know who YOU want to see on the upcoming AEC issue of Eventing USA.

The USEA Virtual Event College was in session last weekend at the at the 2018 USEA American Eventing Championships presented by Nutrena Feeds at The Colorado Horse Park in Parker, Colorado. Throughout the week, professionals from all areas of the eventing world shared exclusive lessons on all manner of topics from cross-country course preparation, dressage judging, organizer responsibilities, travel, and tips and tricks for keeping your equine partner happy and healthy.

The 2018 USEA American Eventing Championships (AEC) presented by Nutrena Feeds has been a roaring success, and none of it would have been possible without the support of the many loyal sponsors. Thanks to their generous support, the USEA was able to provide AEC competitors with over $100,000 in prize money and hundreds of thousands of dollars in prizes and in-kind donations. Whether an AEC competitor placed sixth or won their division, they walked away with prize money and a plethora of prizes donated by the wonderful sponsors.

The final day of competition at the 2018 USEA American Eventing Championships (AEC) presented by Nutrena® Feeds at The Colorado Horse Park (CHP) saw 10 new AEC Champions take their victory lap around the arena. In addition to the Adequan USEA Gold Cup Advanced and Open Intermediate divisions, which concluded earlier in the morning, four Novice divisions and four Beginner Novice divisions took their turn around Marc Donovan’s show jumping courses, fighting for the right to carry home the title of National Champion.Novice Amateur

You could hear a pin drop in the International Ring at The Colorado Horse Park as California’s Tamra Smith rode around the track in the final show jumping phase of the 2018 USEA American Eventing Championships (AEC) presented by Nutrena® Feeds Adequan® USEA Gold Cup Final aboard Alexandra Ahearn, Ellen Ahearn, and Eric Markell’s, Mai Baum (Loredano x Ramira). Smith and the 12-year-old German Sport Horse gelding finished out their weekend on a score of 28.0 – over 10 points ahead of second place.
