Team Germany repeated their 2008 Olympic medal-winning performance when claiming Eventing team and individual gold at the London 2012 Olympic equestrian venue in Greenwich Park today. Such was their supremacy that they clinched the team title even before their last rider went into the ring, and Michael Jung set a new record in equestrian sport when becoming the first-ever event rider to hold Olympic, European and World titles at the same time. What a way to celebrate his 30th birthday!

The U.S. team rallied to qualify two riders for the individual final today in Greenwich Park but would have been less than satisfied with the team seventh place finish at these Olympic Games. It was Germany all the way for gold medals and a gallant Great Britain holding onto the silver medal as New Zealand ousted Sweden to take the bronze, which was some consolation for Double Olympic Champion Mark Todd who dropped out of individual medal contention when Campino lowered the first part of the double in the team event.

The U.S. riders had mixed fortunes on the cross country at the Olympic Games with anchorman Phillip Dutton and Jim and Arden Wildasin's Mystery Whisper returning the best result of the team adding just 2.8 time penalties to his overnight score to finish the day on 47.1 in 12th place. The team is currently in 5th place on 155.2 which will mean a long uphill climb to get back in medal contention tomorrow since the Germans held onto the lead and go into the show jumping on 124.70 followed by Great Britain on 130.2 and Sweden with 131.4.
