"The FÉDÉRATION EQUESTRE INTERNATIONALE (FEI) is the sole controlling authority for all international events in Dressage, Para-Equestrian Dressage, Jumping, Eventing, Driving, Para-Equestrian Driving, Endurance, Vaulting and Reining. It is an umbrella organization that works in conjunction with the National Federations of each member country to regulate and govern the equestrian disciplines named above. Membership in the FEI is open to the one national governing body from any country which is effectively in control of or is in a position to effectively control at least the Olympic Equestrian Disciplines, and preferably recognized by its National Olympic Committee."

The FEI joined the IOC as one of five co-sponsors of the Fourth International Consensus Conference on Concussion in Sport in Zurich (SUI) this week. The two-day conference, which was held at the FIFA headquarters on 1 and 2 November, was also sponsored by FIFA, the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) and the International Rugby Board (IRB).IOC President Jacques Rogge welcomed delegates to the conference via a video message, before the official opening by FIFA Executive Committee member Michel D’Hooghe and IRB Chairman Bernard Lapasset.

Lexington, KY - A modification to the Veterinary Regulations was approved at the 2011 FEI General Assembly held in Buenos Aires. Beginning January 1, 2013, all horses newly-registered with the FEI must be microchipped. (2012 FEI Article 1011.1.2.3). The microchip must be compatible with ISO 11784 and ISO 11785, and all microchip information must be entered in the horse's passport and reported to the USEF.  This requirement applies to initial FEI registration only.

The FEI Equine Prohibited Substance List for 2013, which has now been approved by the FEI Bureau, will come into force on 1 January 2013.Following a period of consultation with the National Federations, the FEI List Group held its most recent meeting during the London 2012 Paralympics and signed off changes to the List for 2013. The changes include the addition of five new substances and other amendments.

Spain, who have really embraced the concept of this inaugural FEI Nations Cup™ Eventing, have now moved up into second place in the overall rankings after an emphatic win at Montelibretti (ITA), the fifth leg of the series.The Spanish team riders dominated the final placings in second, fifth, sixth and eighth from a total of 11 out of the 30 starters that completed the competition.

The British were the dominant force once again when claiming team and individual gold along with individual silver at the 2012 FEI European Eventing Championships for Juniors in Strzegom, Poland yesterday.  But it was a close-fought battle for the medals, with the defending champions meeting powerful opposition from the Irish who finished just three points behind in the team competition, and who claimed third and fourth places in the individual rankings.
