Now in its seventh year, the popular Land Rover/USEA American Eventing Championships offers qualified USEA members of all ages and levels the chance to compete in the only national championships of its kind in the United States. Each September, hundreds of juniors, adult amateurs, and professionals travel from all across the nation to participate in this prestigious competition, vying for the chance to win a piece of the $70,000 in prize money and $100,000 in fabulous prizes.

Competitors range from junior Beginner Novice riders to Preliminary adult amateurs to Olympians such as Leslie Law, Phillip Dutton, and Karen O’Connor. This year will be no exception as we look forward to welcoming hundreds of eventers to this festival of eventing.

"We are very excited and energized by our partnership with Carl Bouckaert and his team,” said Kevin Baumgardner, USEA President. “The Chattahoochee Hills facility has the potential to be one of the greatest eventing venues in the world, and Carl and his colleagues have the vision, passion and commitment to make that potential a reality.  They are equally committed to working closely with the USEA to make the American Eventing Championships an unparalleled experience for horses and riders at every level.  The future of the AEC is bright indeed."

What is the USEA AEC?

The Land Rover/USEA American Eventing Championships are the national championships for the sport of eventing.

Amateurs, juniors, and professional riders alike can compete at any level from Beginner Novice through Advanced to test their mettle against the best in the country, and vie for exciting prizes, cash, and the chance to be named the best in the nation at their respective levels.

The AEC has been known to draw more than 500 entries and approximately 20,000 spectators from 42 different states.  We are returning this year with more media coverage, activities, parties, and good clean competition come rain or shine! Become a part of the USEA American Eventing Championships and become a part of one of the United States’ biggest and most unique eventing festival!

Can Anyone Compete?

Sure, as long as you're qualified! Not sure if you're qualified? Be sure to check out the list of Qualified Riders and list of Qualified Horses.

Both horse AND rider must be qualified for the AEC in order to compete and  must still be eligible for the level of competition at which  you qualified. Please check Qualification Criteria or call the office at 703-779-0440 at extension 3005 - Sharon Gallagher.

Think you're not qualified? Think again! As a service to our amateur members, the USEA IT department is working on a system to recognize amateurs who should be qualified for the Championships, but did not receive qualifying placements at events. Because many events hold "Open" divisions where the professionals and amateurs are joined together in one division, the amateurs may have a harder time trying to get the first or second placings they'll need to qualify them for the AEC. Sure, we have many outstanding amateurs who are very competitive in the Open divisions, but our hope is that our amateurs will receive an opportunity to qualify for the designated amateur divisions at the AEC, even when only open divisions are offered at qualifying events.

Early Bird Discount - Get Entries in by August 10th!

Chattahoochee Hills is offering a $100 early-bird discount to all competitors who get their entries in during the first two weeks after closing date. Plus, if you scratch your entry before closing date, you’ll get your entire entry and stabling fee returned to you (minus a $25 office fee). If you scratch your entry after closing date, you’ll still get your entry fee back, but still have to pay stabling and $25 office fee. Either way you look at it, Chatt Hills is keeping the competitors in mind, and working to make it affordable for anyone who is qualified to attend this prestigious event.

Fantastic New Venue at Chattahoochee Hills

After successful tenures in Southern Pines, North Carolina and Wayne, Illinois, this is the first of three years at the new world-class Georgia facility. Riders and spectators will enjoy the state-of-the-art stabling and amenities offered, as well as spectacular viewing areas for the entire show grounds.

Chattahoochee Hills Eventing is a relatively new equestrian facility on 8,000 lush acres located along the Chattahoochee River in the heart of South Atlanta in Fairburn, Georgia. Rising to the challenge of putting on a first class event, the Chattahoochee Hills team has been working non-stop since they were chosen by the USEA to host the AEC more than one year ago.  Sponsors have lined up to showcase their brands through this unique opportunity.

Visit the Chatt Hills website to learn more about this incredible facility.

WEG Mandatory Outings for the U.S. & Canadian Teams

This year the USEA is proud to welcome both the U.S. and Canadian Eventing teams to the Land Rover/USEA American Eventing Championships. The $25,000 Merial Advanced class will serve as the final mandatory outing for both teams as they begin the last leg of the journey towards the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in Lexington, Kentucky.

Whether you're a competitor or spectator, we encourage you to come out to cheer on your favorite team riders as they prepare for the biggest event our country has yet to experience!

Planning to head to the WEG this fall? Purchase your tickets through the USEA and help support our association!

Media Coverage

Last year, we had tons of daily photo galleries from each division, audio interviews with top riders, video coverage from all three phases, and of course, daily press releases on our website. All of those exciting media opportunities will be back this year, but with much more video interviews with the winners (think CNN or Sportscenter...only better!).
